FAQ
Questions, answered plainly.
What it costs, what it covers, and what Sino AI will and will not do. If something is missing, ask us.
Is Sino Learn free?
Yes. Downloading the app, opening past papers and memos, reading the notes, and asking Sino AI are all free. We do not ask for card details.
There is no advertising, and we do not sell personal information, so “free” does not mean you are the product. If we ever add a paid feature we will say so clearly, and nobody will be charged without agreeing first.
Which subjects are covered?
14 CAPS subjects, from the sciences to the languages:
- Mathematics (Gr 8-12)
- Mathematical Literacy (Gr 10-12)
- Physical Sciences (Gr 10-12)
- Life Sciences (Gr 10-12)
- Accounting (Gr 10-12)
- Business Studies (Gr 10-12)
- Economics (Gr 10-12)
- Geography (Gr 8-12)
- History (Gr 8-12)
- English Home Language (Gr 8-12)
- English FAL (Gr 8-12)
- Life Orientation (Gr 8-12)
- Information Technology (Gr 10-12)
- Computer Applications Technology (Gr 10-12)
We are always adding papers, memos and notes. If a subject you need is thin, tell us and we will prioritise it.
Which grades does it support?
Grades 8 to 12, following CAPS. Grades 8 and 9 cover Senior Phase subjects. Grades 10 to 12 cover the FET Phase, including full matric (NSC) preparation with past papers and memoranda.
You pick your grade when you sign up, and everything you see is filtered to it. You can change it later if you need to look back at earlier work.
Where do the past papers come from?
They are the official examination papers and memoranda produced by the Department of Basic Education and the provincial education departments. They are public documents.
What we add is the filing: every paper tagged by subject, grade, year, term and paper number, with the matching memo attached, so you can find the one you need in seconds instead of digging through a departmental website.
Sino Learn is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an official channel of the Department of Basic Education or any provincial education department.
Is Sino AI safe to use for schoolwork?
It is built for schoolwork specifically. It answers in steps, writes mathematics properly, and points you back to the topic notes when the gap is bigger than one question. It is designed to teach the method, not to hand over an answer, and it will not write your essay for you.
Two honest warnings. First, Sino AI can be wrong. It is a study aid, not a teacher and not a marker. Check anything that matters against your textbook, your memo and your teacher.
Second, do not use it to cheat. Using it during an examination, or to produce work you submit as your own, breaches our Acceptable Use Policyand almost certainly your school’s rules too. The consequences at school are not ours to undo.
How is my data handled?
We collect the minimum the service needs: your name and email, your grade and subjects, your study activity such as bookmarks and plans, and your Sino AI chat history so you can revisit explanations later.
We do not sell personal information, we run no advertising, and we do not profile you. Because most of our users are under 18, POPIA treats their information as special personal information and requires a parent or guardian’s consent, which we follow.
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information at any time. The Privacy Policy sets it out in full, and the POPIA & PAIA noticehas the formal request procedure and our Information Officer’s details.
Do I need airtime or data to use it?
You need a connection to download a paper or to ask Sino AI a question. Once a paper is open it is cached on your device, so going back to it does not cost you again. We keep the app deliberately light: data is expensive, and that is not an abstraction for our users.
When is the app available?
It is available now: the Android app is live on Google Play. The iOS version is in the final stretch. Leave your email on the contact page and we will tell you the day it lands on the App Store, without sending you anything else.
Still stuck on something?
We answer every message. Learners, parents and teachers all welcome.
